  Церковь Катогике располагается на месте ранее существовавшего храма, посвященного Богородице. О том, что он находился именно здесь, узнали в ходе реставрации церкви в конце XVII столетия после землетрясения 1679 года. Тогда были обнаружены фрагменты стен, самые старые надписи на которых датируются 1229 годом. К храму Святой Богородицы примыкала часовня, на месте которой и воздвигли церковь Катогике.

  Beautiful place to visit and give your respect .need to go in bigger church to buy candles ... there may be a service going on .. the small church is tiny ...

  Katoghike is a beautiful and quaint church built in the 13th-century. It was discovered encapsulated within the basilica of S. Astvatsatsin (17th c.) after demolition in 1936. Luckily it was spared from the fate of the basilica. Saint Anna and the Catholicos residence now surrounds the church since 2015. I would still prefer if the newer buildings had been constructed elsewhere since their placement makes it difficult to view parts of Katoghike’s exterior walls. Then again, construction of the newer facilities may inadvertently help to preserve the smaller church and grounds from neglect.

  Pretty 800-year old church in the middle of Yerevan. It's gone under a bunch of renovations and rebuilding, but it is now complete.

  В самом сердце города Еревана. Церковь Святой Богоматери Катогике. Она имеет вид старинной часовни с высокими куполами и каменными сводами. Строительство церкви проходило в 13 веке.
